October 25th -29th

Veterans Food Drive

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Grade 6 Students in Action Club have organized and will be running a food drive starting on November 1st and ending on November 16th. The collected food will be going to the Veterans Food Bank, as Remembrance Day is coming up and we would like to show our appreciation for our Veterans.  This also connects to our learning in preparing for the upcoming Remembrance Day assembly that Room 7 and Room 8 will be hosting.

Please bring non-perishable food items such as: soup, pasta, baby food, cereal, peanut butter, protein or granola bars, trail mix and canned goods like fish or vegetables. Any other non-perishable items that you think of are welcomed to be donated. Don’t forget to try and bring some gluten free or nut free items in case of anyone with allergies.

Move-ember
Your child came home this Friday with the Move-ember activity form to fill out daily.  We will also participate in Drop Everything and Plank Challenge at school.  Room 10 students are excited about the possibility of earning a prize if we can accumulate lots of activity minutes. Please fill out the form daily so we can reach our goal!

Social Studies/ Family Community

This week we focused our attention on what makes our family a community. We discussed the idea that in every community we are responsible for certain things. As a class, we brainstormed jobs that each of the students are responsible for at home. ie; walk the dog, clean my room, do the dishes, do the laundry, take care of my siblings.

Happy Halloween from the Grade 1 team!

Halloween
Our class had a great Halloween Dress Up day on Friday. We started the day with some fun learning activities like, Guess that SkeletonRoll and Draw a Monster, Spider Math and of course our school Halloween Parade. The energy in the school was fantastic!

I wish you a spooky Halloween weekend!
