Indigenous Learning
This week we observed Orange Shirt Day. Our learning is ongoing and not limited to just this past week. We learned what the word Indigenous meant and that we live on Blackfoot land.
We read many stories (Shi-shi-etko, Stolen Words, and Amik Loves School) and viewed a video to learn about residential schools. We had discussions and brainstormed 'how school should feel'. Words such as safe, happy, fun, comfortable, relaxed, respected, loved, and kind were written on individual feathers and displayed for the whole school to read and emulate.
Nature Patterns
We are spending as much time as possible outside learning. The students demonstrated their understanding of pattern making with items from nature. Can you guess what the core is for both patterns below?
Due to COVID protocols, we are unable to use our water fountains for drinking. They can be used as a filling station for water bottles though. Please ensure a water bottle is sent with your child each day. Also please pack your child proper utensils for snack and lunch.
